I really don’t like how this article impacts canon, making inter-space travel objectively easy for people to access. It mucks up the small scale, segmented feeling liminal goes for completely, since any archivist can just step into the freaking system and go anywhere.
It just feels like there’s no real consequence for how powerful the system is
Like i know it sucks and it stinks and shit but nothing significant actually happens to the guy, and he has basically a safe way to access any location ever
A possible way you could shift the concept is by having it only lead to baseline cities. I know this seems like a big shift and messes with the original intent, but if you think about the fact that archivists are just normal human beings, then the ability to travel between sewers ANYWHERE in the world is massive without breaking scale. It could be a great element to explain how archivists travel so quicjky if they’re not some fed agency like SCP. You could tie this in with a historical angle; the sewer is already mentioned in Jehak Paul, I think. Rewriting it like so could really work, I think.
